Polish President Andrzej Duda and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda will participate in the first Global Peace Summit, which will take place on June 15-16 in Switzerland, according to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy's conversation with Duda
Zelenskyy said that today, May 6, he had a telephone conversation with his Polish counterpart.
"I spoke with President of Poland Andrzej Duda and thanked him for his unwavering support for the Peace Formula and confirmation of his attendance at the Peace Summit in Switzerland," wrote the President.
He also added that he had discussed with Duda ensuring the widest possible participation in the peace summit from the Global South.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the summit provides the best opportunity to achieve peace based on fair conditions.
Zelenskyy's conversation with Nauseda
The President of Ukraine also informed that he had a phone conversation with Nauseda to personally invite him to the peace summit.
"I thank President Nauseda for confirming his participation and willingness to actively facilitate the attendance of other countries," said Zelenskyy.
According to him, the conversation also raised issues of further defense cooperation and work on a security assurance agreement, as well as the timing of its signing.
The leaders discussed expectations from the NATO summit in Washington, which will take place on July 9-11.
Peace summit
This year, for the first time, a meeting on the Ukrainian peace formula will be held at the level of heads of state. Ukraine has invited more than 150 countries to the event.
Kyiv refused to invite Russia to the summit. According to the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, Russia's presence is possible only at the second meeting in this format.
