Man Utd fans all saying same thing about Mason Mount after Crystal Palace thrashing, they make major complaint

Manchester United fans have made their feelings perfectly clear on Mason Mount after the former Chelsea star’s performance against Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Mason Mount was a marquee signing for manager Erik ten Hag last summer after Manchester United landed him for £55m, plus £5m in add-ons, from Chelsea.

However, the 25-year-old United player has struggled in his debut season at Old Trafford amid dealing with injuries.

Mount has managed only 14 Premier League matches in the current campaign, with the ex-Blues ace only managing six starts under Erik ten Hag.

The England international suffered his first injury at United after two league matches last August, with Mount sidelined due to a calf problem.

Mount then suffered another setback due to injury before the end of 2023 after he picked up a knock in the 1-0 win over Luton Town at Old Trafford.

The United attacking midfielder only returned to first-team training in March after an extended period on the sideline due to his injury.

Mount returns to Man Utd starting XI

Erik ten Hag was without captain Bruno Fernandes after the Portugal international missed his first Manchester United match of his career due to injury.

Mason Mount started in place of Bruno Fernandes after making an injury-time cameo in United’s 1-1 draw against Burnley at Old Trafford last month.

The United star has made seven appearances across all competitions since his return from injury in March, with six of his appearances coming from the bench.

Speaking ahead of the Crystal Palace match, Ten Hag defended Mount’s underwhelming season and wanted to keep him fit amid his injury-hit campaign.

“He is a fantastic football player but it is important, first, that he keeps fit because he has had three injuries,” he said, as per BBC Sport.

“We have to avoid that, so we have to do this very carefully.

“To keep him fit is our first objective. Secondly, we want to use him so he can add benefit and contribute to the team.”

Man Utd fans react to Mount’s performance vs Palace

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were far from impressed with Mount’s overall display at Selhurst Park.

Red Devils supporters pointed to the United player’s hefty fee and Ten Hag’s tactics, with one fan calling Mount a “waste” of a transfer for the price alone.

Other United fans were baffled by Ten Hag’s desire to land him last summer and the Red Devils boss’ handling of Mount.

“This Mason Mount cost almost £55million pounds and someone is out there saying don’t sack this manager? We’ve not had a manager more deserving of a sack since SAF [Sir Alex Ferguson] left,” one fan said.

Someone else added: “I’m aware it’s not uppermost in our list of problems but Mason Mount [is] so ridiculously overrated.”

A third tweeted: “Ever since the first rumour came up about Mason Mount, I saw ZERO logic or sense in his signing. The doubt has been thoroughly validated. What a waste of £60m.”

Another asked: “When Ten Hag was buying Mason Mount, how was he planning to utilise him?”

“He should’ve been sacked on the spot when he spent £65m on Mason Mount and handed him [Cristiano] Ronaldo’s shirt,” a fifth posted.

Someone else commented: “Mason Mount?! what was the point behind that purchase? I still don’t know why he was bought.”

While a seventh wrote: “Is Mason Mount on the pitch? He’s hiding like the full-backs.”
