Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged a faster pace in the delivery of promised weapons from the West.

"Political decisions must be followed by real logistics, the actual receipt of weapons by our soldiers," Zelensky said in his daily video address on Monday.

To this end, cooperation with partners, especially the United States, must be better coordinated. Work had to be done around the clock to speed things up, he said.

Following months of deadlock in the US House of Representatives, the US released a military aid package to Ukraine worth almost $61 billion around a fortnight ago. According to information from the White House and the Pentagon, arms deliveries should begin within a few days.

Nevertheless, Ukraine is still on the defensive. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, from whom Zelensky received a situation report, wrote of a difficult situation on the front.

The enemy still has more personnel, weapons and technical equipment at its disposal and is therefore attacking Ukrainian positions on a daily basis.

According to the report, the main forces of the Russian military are targeting the towns of Kurakhove and Pokrovsk in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk.
