After finishing just outside the top 10 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, Mike Norvell and Florida State are once again gunning for an elite recruiting class, this time in the 2025 cycle.

The Seminoles are picking up some steam on the recruiting trail after a slow start in the spring. FSU currently checks in with the No. 9 class in the nation — which is also good for the No. 1 class in the state of Florida and the No. 2 class in the ACC.

Ten prospects are now committed to Norvell and his staff — all of whom are blue-chip (four and five-star) recruits.

Florida State Class Breakdown

The 10 commits are split on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. The current headliner in the class is Jacksonville Raines five-star interior offensive lineman Solomon Thomas — who now ranks No. 14 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking.

“I wanted to make the decision for a good little minute now,” Thomas told Warchant after his December commitment. “I actually wanted to commit the day after they had said that Florida State wasn’t going to go to the playoffs, which I was kind of upset about because I was rooting for them. … It hurt me, so I was like, ‘OK, I’m gonna make it to where they can’t count us out again.”

Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County four-star IOL Peyton Joseph now joins Thomas in the trenches following his July 4 commitment. A one-time Florida commit, Joseph is a top-200 recruit and the No. 12 IOL in the nation.

The end of June was good to the Noles, as a quartet of four-stars pledged between June 24-30. Milton (Ga.) four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley highlights the recent additions, as he’s a top-50 recruit overall and the No. 6 WR in the 2025 On300. Port Charlotte (Fla.) four-star defensive lineman Myron Charles is the No. 9 DL in the nation, while Greensboro (Ga.) Greene County four-star DL Kevin Wynn is right behind as another top-250 recruit.

Omaha (Neb.) Millard South four-star tight end Chase Loftin and Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage four-star cornerback Gregory Thomas are the two newest additions to the class and both are top-300 prospects overall.

Jacksonville Mandarin four-star quarterback pledge Tramell Jones has continued to see his stock rise and is currently the No. 26 QB in the nation. On defense, Cocoa four-star EDGE Javion Hilson is a former Alabama pledge who joined the fold in Tallahassee in January following the retirement of Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban. He remains a top-50 overall recruit. Sanford Seminole four-star linebacker Ethan Pritchard rounds out the class.

Top FSU Offensive Commit: IOL Solomon Thomas

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Thomas opted to commit to Florida State on Dec. 22, providing a centerpiece pledge to the Noles’ class. He’s the top-ranked IOL in the cycle, as well as the No. 2 player in Florida.

The likes of LSU and Florida have continued to push for Thomas, but he told Warchant after taking his official visit in June that he is locked in with Mike Norvell and Co.

“I tell them why I committed in a heartbeat,” Thomas said. “It’s 100 percent real. It’s not, ‘Oh, I’m getting paid a certain amount of money.’ Because I can go somewhere else and make way more money than what they’re giving me. It’s not about that. It’s about the coaching and it’s about the culture.”

Top FSU Defensive Commit: EDGE Javion Hilson

The Seminoles are one of the programs that was provided a major boost via the retirement of Saban. Hilson was quick to find a new home with FSU and will now help keep the class high in the recruiting rankings as the No. 40 overall prospect, No. 4 EDGE and No. 6 player in Florida.

Hilson told On3’s Hayes Fawcett this upon flipping his commitment:

“I like the atmosphere and the fan base. My dad is a big Florida State fan and I grew up watching them and it’s close to home. I am a Florida boy and they’ve been recruiting me the heaviest ever since I committed to Alabama. Also, I can fit the best in their defense 4-2-5 as a true defensive end.”
