Man Utd must ditch 0-tackle-won dud who looked like he was ‘running in treacle’ vs Palace, he got torn apart

Manchester United lost in the Premier League again, this time the victims of a 4-0 drubbing against Crystal Palace.

And no one can say it wasn’t deserved. Oliver Glasner’s side were phenomenal on the night, whereas Erik ten Hag’s was quite the opposite.

There was a sea of bad performances. Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount were all seriously poor.

One Manchester United star was given the run-around all night, by one sensational Palace star.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka among Manchester United’s worst performers

The ex-Crystal Palace man Aaron Wan-Bissaka had a torrid time at his former ground Selhurst Park.

The right-back played on the opposite flank against the Eagles, and it was ridiculously noticeable. He was constantly out of position, looking lost and just generally given the run around by the Palace attack.

His performance is dually reflected in some poor stats on the night.

  • 90 minutes played
  • Accurate passes: 38/55 (69%)
  • Accurate crosses: 1/3 (33%)
  • Accurate long balls: 0/5 (0%)
  • Dispossessed: 1
  • Tackles won: 0/0 (0%)

A Manchester United defender can not look this unaccomplished, and we think they need to look at selling the 26-year-old in the summer.

How much they recoup of the £50m fee they paid the Eagles for him is a different story. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co may also be inclined to splash out on the man who tore him apart.

Michael Olise tore him apart

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Michael Olise in the summer, with the Red Devils seemingly favourites to sign him. That may have changed after this fixture.

The Frenchman will not have been impressed by the standards of the Manchester United first-team squad, particularly Wan-Bissaka, who he bossed around all night.

Alan Smith said on Sky Sports commentary as Olise danced past Wan-Bissaka early in the second half that the English right-back looked like he was ‘running in treacle’ – which was a regular occurrence all night.

It’s plain and simple. Wan-Bissaka is not up to United’s quality, Olise very much is. Do the deed in the summer, Mr Ratcliffe.
