‘Sign him up, Sir Jim!’… Manchester United fans saw the perfect first transfer target for Ratcliffe last night

Manchester United fans saw one performance they enjoyed on Monday night but it wasn’t from any of their own players.

Manchester United sunk to a new low in a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace which easily could have been even worse.

It was yet another hapless, humiliating display from Erik ten Hag’s side, and the manager’s job will no doubt come under extreme scrutiny in the aftermath.

Michael Olise scored the opener as he was allowed all the space in the world to pick his spot and find the bottom corner.

The truly terrible defending would continue as Jean-Philippe Mateta scorched past Jonny Evans to fire in, Diogo Dalot weakly cleared a ball into the path of Tyrick Mitchell to tap home, and then Casemiro, who struggled all night, was dispossessed on the by-line as Olise grabbed a fine second.

The inquest will no doubt rage on throughout the week but United fans were left impressed by one player at least, one they hope the club signs.

Manchester United fans ‘beg’ club to sign Crystal Palace player

Eberechi Eze, Adam Wharton, Joachin Andersen and several others were all fantastic at Selhurst Park and put United’s recruitment to shame.

But it was Olise who was the star of the show with his two excellent goals as well as his mesmerising skill and constant threat.

Unsurprisingly, United fans are calling for the club to sign him in the summer transfer window.

One fan tweeted: “Olise has already passed his audition. Beg we sign him!” and those thoughts were echoed by another who wrote: “What a goal by Olise!! Sign him up, Sir Jim! 1-0 Crystal Palace.”

One fan then compared Olise to under-performing winger Antony and wrote: “Olise would be a huge upgrade on Antony btw.”

Another wondered: “Is it possible for United to sign Olise before he scores another ?!” It turned out not to be possible.

“Embarrassing defending by Man Utd yet again but Olise is just pure class,” another user added.

“Need to see him in a United shirt next season, he’s a pass first winger, and would bring such a different/ needed dynamic to our attack!”

Should Manchester United sign Michael Olise?

Olise would clearly be an upgrade on what United have at the moment but nearly any Premier League player would given how dreadful they have been.

Olise, or Eze for that matter, looks like he would be a great signing on paper but it’s hard to say he would be a success given how much every signing has struggled in recent years.

United have much bigger problems to solve this summer before they even think of recruitment, namely who will be in charge of the players once they’re signed.
