The 38-year-old, of Mant Close, Wickham, is accused of attempting to intimidate a witness or juror in Roundfield, Upper Bucklebury, last July.

Specifically he is said, knowing or believing that a victim, namely Lucy Karpinski, was a witness in proceedings for an offence, attempted to do an act, namely verbally threatened her to withdraw from the investigation, which would have intimidated, and was intended to intimidate, Lucy Karpinksi, intending thereby to cause the course of justice to be obstructed, perverted or interfered with.

Mr Heenan, who was legally represented by Gianpaolo Damiani, spoke only to confirm his details and to plead not guilty to the single charge.

He was told the case could proceed no further and that it would be adjourned for a trial to be arranged.

Mr Heenan was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
