'Double impressed': Ben Foster explains why Harvey Elliott will become even better for Liverpool next season

Ben Foster has explained why he thinks Harvey Elliott will become an even better player for Liverpool next season.

In general, this season has been a major improvement for Liverpool. Compared to the depths of darkness that the Reds reached last season, even the disappointing ending cannot tarnish the improvements they have made this season.

Among the players who have evolved and grown the most throughout the course of the season has been Harvey Elliott.

Last season, Elliott was struggling to get into the team by the end of the campaign. Now this time around, he’s fought to become a regular starter.

Elliott proved that against Tottenham on Sunday night. He put in an excellent performance that showcased what he is like at his best.

Elliott not only scored a sublime goal, but he created the most chances on the pitch, and made the most recoveries out of anyone in Liverpool colours while he was on the pitch (Fotmob).

On top of that, he registered an assist as well, which means Elliott now has the joint most goal contributions (13) alongside Alexis Mac Allister from Liverpool’s midfielders this season.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ben Foster was full of praise for the Liverpool youngster.

“Harvey Elliott’s performance, I was double impressed with Harvey Elliott at the weekend,” Foster said.

“I think next season, he could really come into his own.”

Why Ben Foster is right about Harvey Elliott

Next season under Arne Slot, who likes to use numbers tens, Elliott could definitely ‘come into his own’ as Foster puts it.

The number eight role has never really been his preferred position in Klopp’s system. Elliott has done well there, but he really thrives in more advanced roles.

For most of his career, he has been a number ten, and in Slot’s system Elliott will be able to play that role which can only elevate his game further.
