‘Ridiculous’: Ben Foster says he couldn’t believe what he saw from ‘phenomenal’ Man City player v Wolves

Ben Foster has said that he was amazed by what he saw from one particular Manchester City player during their recent win over Wolves.

The Blues took a step closer to potentially winning the Premier League title on Saturday by beating Gary O’Neil’s side 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

After the game, one pundit and former top-flight player couldn’t hide his astonishment at what he saw from one particular player in Pep Guardiola’s side on the day.

Speaking in a recent edition of The Football Fill-In shared on his YouTube channel, Foster had this to say about the goals Erling Haaland scored against the Old Gold on Saturday.

He said: “The couple of goals that he scored at the weekend, take the penalties away, the header, the header at that back post is phenomenal.

“He’s like 10 feet in the air and he still managed to find it and guide it into that bottom corner. It’s ridiculous.

“Then the finish into the far corner, I was watching it and when that goal went in I just sat there [clapped] and said ‘That’s very, very good.’

“What a player. We’re lucky to have him in the Premier League.”

Erling Haaland delivered a star performance against Wolves

As Foster mentioned, Haaland scored four of City’s five goals against the Midlands club, two of which came from the penalty spot.

The other two saw the striker head the ball past Jose Sa after getting on the end of a back-post cross before then going on to fire the ball with a curling effort after receiving a long-range pass from Phil Foden.

Across the 82 minutes he was on the pitch against Wolves, the 23-year-old racked up seven shots on target in total, highlighting just how much of a danger he was for the opposition.

His overall display ultimately earned the Norwegian a strong match rating of 9.8/10 from SofaScore, making him the highest-rated player on the day.

With these four goals now taking Haaland’s tally for the campaign to 25 league goals scored in 28 games, he is now four ahead of Cole Palmer in the race to win a consecutive Golden Boot, as well as helping his side move closer to possibly lifting another title.

Taking all of that into account, it comes as no surprise that Foster was stunned by what he saw from the City star in his latest outing for the club.
