Liverpool told they will need to pay £43m to sign winger on Michael Edwards’ radar this summer

Liverpool have been told they will need to pay £43m to land a winger who is on Michael Edwards’ radar ahead of the summer window.

One area where Liverpool are likely to strengthen this summer is on the wing. The Reds will need to bolster their options, with the club’s likely new manager, Arne Slot, having a preference for traditional wing play.

In Slot’s system, Liverpool will want to introduce wingers who are excellent in one vs one situations and who can make an impact in the final third.

Currently, there are a few options in the squad for that role. But with Luis Diaz’s future up in the air, the Reds will have to look at alternative solutions as well.

Liverpool transfer target Johan Bakayoko transfer latest

One player who will be on Michael Edwards’ radar is Johan Bakayoko. The PSV Eindhoven winger ticks a lot of boxes for Liverpool.

He is capable of scoring goals and creating chances at a high volume. In total, he has 14 goals and 14 assists for PSV Eindhoven this season.

Now according to HLN Nieuws, Liverpool have been told they will need to pay at least €50m in order to land Bakayoko. That’s around £43m and it’s roughly how much Liverpool paid to land Cody Gakpo from PSV last year.

Is Johan Bakayoko worth the money?

Considering Bakayoko is starting to reach the levels Cody Gakpo reached before leaving PSV for Liverpool, he is definitely an interesting target.

Especially since he is a left-footed right-winger, which is exactly what Liverpool will need this summer to provide a back-up option and a future heir to Mohamed Salah’s throne.

£43m may seem like a lot of money. But for a player of his quality and age, it could turn out to be a bargain.
