The Met Gala is the most prestigious and exclusive night in the fashion calendar, this year’s event taking place on Monday, May 6th 2024, boasting a range of stunning and bold looks.
Lana’s first appearance at the Met Gala in six years saw her rocking one of the most enchanting outfits of the evening. On the other hand, her dress has arguably been overshadowed by what Swifties strongly believe to be shade thrown at Taylor.
Firstly, Lana was photographed with Kim Kardashian, who has become quite the topic of conversation for Swifties since the release of the new album The Tortured Poets Department.

Fans have speculated that the song ‘thanK you aIMee’ is about Kim, her first name spelled out in the capital letters of the track name. The theory has only been reinforced by the lyrics, stirring up the pair’s feud and bringing it into the limelight once more—the lyrics allegedly reference the timeline of their falling out.
‘It’s a betrayal’
With Taylor and Lana believed to be good friends, some of Taylor’s fandom have considered the Met Gala snaps of the Summertime Sadness singer and Kim a betrayal.
“Taylor Swift is somewhere right now screaming, throwing things at Jack Antonoff and tearing up a photo of Lana,” one fan reacted on X/Twitter.
“Lana being friends with Taylor and constantly collaborating with Kim is f***ing confusing to me,” another tweeted, with somebody arguing: “Lana Del Rey with Kim Kardashian feels directly pointed at Taylor.”
Another reacted: “I don’t like the association at all because what Kim and Kanye did to Taylor is the cheapest someone could do to a woman. As a TayLana stan, this is not very feminist in my eyes, Lana.”

Entertainment Tonight asked Lana what she thinks about The Tortured Poets Department during a quick check-in on the red carpet.
When asked what her favorite jam was, she said: It’s the one uhh, Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me… Whatever that title was.”
Some have taken the arguably dismissive response from Lana as a sign she’s tired of being asked about Taylor’s music and not her own. “She is so tired of being associated with Taylor,” a Lana fan defended on X/Twitter.
“I love Taylor too but we can ask Lana about LANA,” another demanded in exhaustion. With Lana’s upcoming album Lasso set for release in September this year, fans wanted to hear about her perspective on that—not TTPD.
