Vingegaard targets Tour as he returns to training after crash

Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard is training on his bike again just over a month after a serious crash and is hoping to take part in this year's famous race.

In a video message distributed by his team Visma-Lease a bike on Tuesday, the 27-year-old Dane said: "Of course I hope to be there at the start of the Tour de France. We don't know exactly how my...recovery will go. But I will do everything I can to get there."

Vingegaard trained outside on the bike on Tuesday near his Swiss home for the first time since a crash at the Tour of the Basque Country on April 4 where he broke a collarbone, several ribs and a finger, as well as puncturing a lung.

"I feel good, it is improving day by day. I still have some things to to recover from but it is going better and better," he added.

The annual Tour starts on June 29 in Florence.
