Marks and Spencer shoplifter caught with alcohol and shampoo

A shoplifter was caught by an off-duty police officer in Bishop’s Stortford.

The incident happened at Marks and Spencer in South Street last Wednesday (May 1) between 9am and 10am.

The off-duty officer, who is not with the Hertfordshire force, detained a man he suspected of shoplifting.

Local officers attended and recovered alcohol believed to have been stolen from M&S as well as 10 bottles of shampoo from Savers.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “A man was arrested on suspicion of theft and has been bailed until June.”
