'Huge': Mark Wilson says Celtic player who ‘directed the traffic’ vs Hearts will be vital for Glasgow Derby

With less than five days to go to the big Glasgow Derby, the Celtic fans will be hoping that the team gets a clean bill of health prior to the big kick-off.

Because if one thing this season has taught the Celtic fans it is we don’t have enough quality in the squad to cope properly whenever one of our best players gets injured.

It took all season to try and work out who was the best player to replace Reo Hatate in the heart of the Celtic midfield.

When Cameron Carter-Vickers was injured we looked vulnerable at the back especially as neither Maik Nawrocki or Gustaf Lagerbielke looked good enough to step in.

So the Celtic supporters will be hoping that all our will be wrapped in cotton wool this week. Especially the main one.

Callum McGregor will be ‘huge’ for Celtic vs Rangers

Former Celtic defender, Mark Wilson, says that after watching Callum McGregor ‘direct the traffic’ against Hearts, he is in no doubt the Hoops captain will be absolutely crucial in the weekend’s game against Rangers.

Wilson said [Superscoreboard], “I think when you look through the spine of Celtic’s team, at this stage of the season is always going to be critical.

“And you’ll look today at Joe Hart, with a couple of big saves when it was needed.

“Cameron Carter-Vickers, another full game and looks close to full fitness. Callum McGregor, again, close to full fitness, directed the traffic and he will be huge next week.”

McGregor has, incredibly, faced Rangers 37 times during his Celtic career. The Hoops legend has won 20 of those, drawn six and lost eleven.

The Celtic captain tends to control these games and he was a figurehead in the 3-0 2022 win which put Celtic on top of the league for the first time in over a year and they didn’t move from there for the next 18 months.

The Celtic fans will be a lot more confident going into Saturday’s game knowing that their captain is looking back to his best and getting a positive result to help keep the league title at Celtic Park.
