An armed forces charity will be celebrating an important day with a fundraising event – and you can join in.
On Saturday, June 29, The Downham and District branch of The Royal British Legion will be hosting a bike ride to plant poppies on war graves within the district to celebrate Armed Forces Day.
A poppy will be placed on the grave of every veteran in the branch’s patch.

There are more than 140 of them in total, and all poppies will be placed on the day as members’ way of saying “thank you”.
Downham RBL will be helped in this initiative by a number of cyclists who will follow one of three routes to ensure that the majority of graves are visited.

There are three cycle routes to choose from - one of 50 miles, one of 30 miles and one for families of six miles.
If you do not wish to cycle, you can support this day by sponsoring a poppy for £10.
All money raised will go towards this year’s Poppy Appeal.

This will be the second time that Downham and District RBL has marked Armed Forces Day this way.
Last year, the branch raised more than £1,800.
