'Assessing my options': Pundit thinks £42m Tottenham player could 'push' to leave the club soon

Alan Hutton believes one Tottenham Hotspur player might push for a move away from the club this summer.

Tottenham have improved compared to last season. Even though they look like they will miss out on a place in the top four, there have been a lot of positives to take under Ange Postecoglou.

Some players, however, may not have a future at Spurs beyond the end of this season. Hutton has had his say on one of them.

Alan Hutton makes claim on Giovani Lo Celso’s Tottenham future

Giovani Lo Celso joined Tottenham initially on loan from Real Betis in 2019.

That move was made permanent in the following year, with Spurs paying a total of £42 million to acquire his services (Football London).

The Argentine came in with a lot of hype, but he just hasn’t lived up to it.

Lo Celso is a hugely talented player. He has all the qualities to thrive at the top level, but for one reason or another, none of his managers at Tottenham have given him a consistent run of game time.

That’s why rumours have emerged that Lo Celso could leave Tottenham, bringing an end to his five-year spell on Spurs’ books.

Now, Alan Hutton has had his say on the midfielder.

The former Tottenham player thinks Lo Celso must be feeling like an ‘outsider’ now, which is why he might push for a move away in the coming weeks.

Hutton told Tottenham Hotspur News: “He might push for an exit. I think everybody wants to play football week in and week out and I genuinely just don’t see that happening for him.

“So, as a player, is it basically going to come down to what are your options? If he’s got options to go elsewhere where he feels that he’s going to get that game time that’s needed, then I feel that’s something that he’ll look at.

“Yes, Tottenham under the new manager they do play an exciting brand of football and they have changed their whole philosophy and mentality and he’ll probably want to be a part of that. But if you’re not regularly playing, you feel like an outsider and I think that’s what he feels at the moment.

“He doesn’t get the game time that he wants so if it was me, I would be assessing my options. Yes, it would be good to know that Tottenham want you there, but he seems to be more of a squad player than a starter there so I would be looking at all my options come the summer.”

Ange Postecoglou has to change his mind on one thing

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has got a lot of things right since joining the club.

The Australian has completely transformed the way Spurs play and the atmosphere inside the club has been amazing for large parts of the campaign.

Now, with just three games left in the season, we really think Postecoglou should start Giovani Lo Celso in each of those fixtures.

James Maddison has really struggled recently, while Dejan Kulusevski hasn’t been able to do much in the number 10 role.

Lo Celso has impressed with his cameos against Chelsea and Liverpool, and we think he has done enough to warrant starts in the final three games of the season.
