West Ham in pole position to sign winger with 22 goals and assists this season for £17m - report

West Ham United are allegedly set to make a bid for a winger who’s absolutely on fire this season.

David Moyes left West Ham incredibly short in the attacking department after the awful January transfer window, and now it seems like our new manager – most likely Julen Lopetegui, is set to make a bid for a really in-form winger.

The 57-year-old Spaniard allegedly has his heart set on six new signings when he takes over as the new Hammers boss.

One of the priority signings should be a winger. The fact that West Ham let Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals leave in the same window still baffles me.

And that mistake absolutely must be addressed this summer.

Thankfully, it seems like that is exactly what the Hammers plan on doing…

According to a report from O Jogo (print edition May 8th, page 13), West Ham are ready to beat Brentford and Benfica to the signing of Jota Silva.

The Hammers are are in pole position for his signature due to the fact that we’re prepared to pay more for him than those two clubs – £17 million.

Signing a right-footed left winger should be a priority for West Ham this summer, and Jota Silva may well be the man for the job.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stunning season with Vitória de Guimarães. He has bagged 15 goals and seven assists in 40 games in all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

22 goals contributions really is an exceptional return. The Portuguese star is at his best when playing in the left wing position, but he can also play on the right or through the middle as a centre-forward.

If West Ham have really bid £17 million for the winger, and we get our man, it will be a great deal for the club.
