Arsenal have ‘a good chance’ of signing £60m player this summer – journalist

Arsenal have been keen on signing Martin Zubimendi for a long time now.

The Spanish midfielder was first named as a target for the Gunners 12 months ago, but, for some reason, there’s been little concrete movement on this front.

Zubimendi has remained loyal to Real Sociedad up until this point, but this summer could finally be the point the £60m man moves on.

Speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has been discussing Arsenal’s ongoing interest in Zubimendi, and he says that the Gunners have a good chance of getting the midfielder this summer.

Arsenal have a good chance of getting Martin Zubimendi

Kay shared what he knows about Zubimendi after his comments this week about enjoying life at Real Sociedad.

“I think that little comment from Zubimendi was a comment most players would come out and say,” Kay said.

“Yeah the first thing I thought was that if you have a release clause and it’s triggered you’re off. That’s a weird one and I still think Arsenal have a good chance of getting him.”

Martin Zubimendi could be ideal for Arsenal

Arsenal seem to have found a perfect midfield balance this season.

Indeed, Jorginho and Declan Rice have formed one of the best midfield duos in the Premier League this term, and that seems to be the winning formula.

Unfortunately, Jorginho isn’t getting any younger, any he will need replacing soon.

Zubimendi is just what the doctor ordered in that regard.

Similarly to Jorginho, Zubimendi is a very controlled, metronomic player who gets all of the basics right all of the time.

He’s not necessarily a spectacular footballer, but he’s as steady as they come, and that’s what Arsenal need in their midfield, especially if they want Declan Rice to continue to push further forwards.

This could be the ideal signing for Arsenal this summer.
