Khaldoon Al Mubarak gives club legend a lifetime pass to watch every Man City game for the rest of his life

Khaldoon Al Mubarak has given a certain Manchester City legend a lifetime Seasoncard to watch any game he wishes to forever.

It’s safe to say that honours do not come bigger than that for a player who has left the club.

But as a club, Manchester City have a history of honouring their icons in the right way.

For instance, when Yaya Toure left the Sky Blues in 2018, one of the training pitches was named after him.

Additionally, a mosaic was created of the Ivorian’s celebration during the 2011 FA Cup final when he scored the winner against Stoke City as well as for his incredible contributions to the club.

During his final game for the club, Yaya Toure was handed a lifelong season ticket as well.

Sergio Aguero also had a mosaic made in honour of him outside one of the club’s training pitches.

A mural of Aguero’s iconic celebration when he scored his unforgettable strike against Queens Park Rangers was also painted on the side of a building on Dale Street in Manchester.

A statue was also commissioned, which has been in place for two years now.

City as a club seem grateful to have signed players who put their heart and soul every time they passed the white line.

Another player who certainly did that was David Silva.

David Silva, who witnessed Manchester City thrash Wolves 5-1 was handed a lifetime Seasoncard by Khaldoon Al Mubarak during an episode of ‘Inside City’ on the club’s official YouTube channel.

“This is a lifetime Seasoncard for you. We will never forget what you have done for this club. We’re so happy. So, that’s why I wanted to give you this, a small recognition from the club for everything you have done.”

David Silva replied: “Thank you very much.”

Al Mubarak said: “Thank you.”

After the pair posed for a picture, Silva said, “Thank you. I really appreciate it.”

Al Mubarak answered, “No, it’s a pleasure.”

The least David Silva deserves

David Silva also has a statue outside the Etihad Stadium like Sergio Aguero and a mosaic to pay ode to him but perhaps Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak felt nothing sufficed to thank him for his contributions.

The Spaniard is an icon of the club and one questions if City would have become the powerhouse they are today without his presence.

Such was the power of his genius on a football pitch for the Sky Blues for a decade.

It would be heartwarming to witness the legendary David Silva watch his former club in the flesh more regularly after having been given the lifetime Seasoncard by Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
