‘That’s the way’: Danny Murphy says Man City could destroy Man United if one thing happens in FA Cup final

Danny Murphy has claimed that Manchester City could demolish Manchester United in the upcoming FA Cup final depending on one particular circumstance.

Later this month, the final game of the season will see City take on their Manchester rivals to once again get their hands on the FA Cup.

The previous final saw the Blues beat United 2-1 at Wembley Stadium before they then went on to win the Champions League final with a victory over Inter Milan.

United’s latest game saw them lose 4-0 to Crystal Palace away from home in the Premier League, leaving them with just three league games left before the FA Cup final – Arsenal, Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion.

After their heavy defeat in South London, one pundit and former top-flight player made a claim regarding something that would undoubtedly delight a lot of City fans when the two Manchester clubs meet at Wembley for another FA Cup final.

Murphy shares what Man United need to do to not get battered by Man City in FA Cup final

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy had this to say when asked what the FA Cup final could look like for United and what City could do to them in it.

He said: “They’ve got to get some players back and they’ve got to fight for dear life.

“They’ve got to be pragmatic, they’ve got to sit in, they’ve got to defend for their lives and try to nick a goal on the break.

“Like they did when they went to City, they got one up and they hung on for a while but they couldn’t maintain it, that’s the way they’ve got to play City.

“If they go open, toe-to-toe against City then they’ll get annihilated.”

Man City have dominated Man United this season

Having faced off against each other twice in the Premier League this season, the Blues beat United 3-0 at Old Trafford and then 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Across those two games, Pep Guardiola’s side registered 48 attempts at goal in total, with 18 being on target.

In comparison, the Red Devils could only muster 10 shots at City’s goal across the two games, four of which were on target.

This makes it easy to see why Murphy thinks that unless United play ultra-defensively and are able to stifle the amount of shots of goals City have, they will get rolled over by the Blues.
