Hugh Jackman fans pick up on sad detail in his new photo - 'Poor guy'

Eagle-eyed Hugh Jackman fans have found a reason to be sad for the actor after he shared a suave photo of himself on Instagram.

Superhero movies have dominated the box office for decades now, and it was Hugh Jackman who helped lead the early charge by starring as Wolverine in the iconic 2000 blockbuster X-Men. In 2017, the same year the 55-year-old Australian actor starred in The Greatest Showman, he said bye to the comic book character in the poignant swansong film Logan. Returning to reprise the role in Deadpool & Wolverine this summer, on the other hand, it turns out that goodbye was only temporary. It’s not the return of Wolverine that has some upset for Hugh though…

Hugh Jackman fans say ‘poor guy’ after new Instagram post

The Hollywood star posted a picture of himself in a dashing suit on Instagram on Tuesday, May 7th 2024.

“Let’s go,” he captioned it with a hashtag referencing the prestigious Met Gala, a fashion event attended by the likes of Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande. However, some have focused instead on his surroundings rather than the man himself.

“Hugh needs to furnish his apartment/townhouse,” a commenter reacted. “Poor guy. Looks handsome, though.” The apartment the photo was taken in has objects on the floor in the background, triggering fans that would clearly love to pick out a nice coffee table for the man.

As for the reasons behind fans’ concern, it was announced in September 2023 that Hugh and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness were splitting up after being married for 27 years.

“I’ve noticed that too,” another replied to the above comment with a teary-eyed emoji. “But Ryan‘s [Reynolds] a true genuine friend who has been there for him as well. I can see the sadness even though his chin’s up with a smile.”

One commenter said: “I can help… I’m good at choosing cushions.”

Despite some hoping to spruce up the place, others have weighed in parallel thoughts. “This might not even be his place,” one argued, “It could be a studio or hotel room.” Even if it was, somebody defended Hugh with the view that “it’s probably his style…”

Hugh Jackman and his former wife shared a statement on their separation

Many were shocked to find out that the couple, who married in 1996 after meeting the previous year, got divorced in 2023.

Clearing up any confusion, the pair shared a joint statement to PEOPLE.

‘We have been blessed to share almost three decades together in a wonderful, loving marriage,” they explained. “Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”

The pair have two children, Oscar and Ava, but clarified “Family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition.”

Deadpool & Wolverine opens in theaters on Friday, July 26th 2024.
