'See what happened': Talksport pundit shares why Man Utd loanee was "always overhyped", admits he just isn't good enough

Simon Jordan has ripped into one current Manchester United loanee, saying he is a big fish in a small pond at his current club.

Since joining Borussia Dortmund on loan in January, it’s been rather hit-and-miss for the underwhelming Manchester United winger.

Jadon Sancho had initially departed Dortmund for Old Trafford in 2021, costing £73m at the time and failed to live up to that price tag.

Despite showing promising signs it just seemed doomed to fail from the start, but that being said, Sancho has caught the eye of many since his return to Dortmund.

His semi-final first-leg display was particularly pleasing with Cesc Fabregas among his fans and he now looks forward to playing in the final.

But Simon Jordan doesn’t think this is representative of his quality and simply doesn’t think he’s good enough to be at United.

Simon Jordan shares views on Jadon Sancho’s form at Borussia Dortmund

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday, May 8th, pundit Simon Jordan has been discussing the United loan star who’s just reached the Champions League final.

“I don’t think you cover yourself in glory if you’re ostracized from the club because you’ve been criticised by the manager. He’s gone back to Dortmund after leaving because Dortmund wasn’t a big enough club for him to want to be at, he’s gone back.

“At this moment in time, it looks like Dortmund have got something meaningful because they’ve got to a Champions League final, but this doesn’t validate, vindicate or redeem this player because he’s played a few decent games.”

Jordan then continued to explain what Sancho would have to do in his eyes to be vindicated.

“What would have vindicated him would be if he’d have handled himself better. This is a player who has a consistent form of indiscipline throughout his career.

“I don’t think Jadon Sancho performed for two years at Manchester United at a particularly high level.

“So no I don’t think Sancho’s been redeemed, I think he’s a decent player, I think he was always overhyped, overinflated, we learned things at Manchester United like he doesn’t have the pace to go in behind or do what he was being asked to do, but at Dortmund, he obviously feels comfortable there.

“Obviously feels like a big fish in a small pond, you take a big fish in a small pond and put him into a big pond and we see what happened to him at Manchester United.”

For Jordan, Sancho isn’t a player that United should be considering taking back, but is he right?

Should Manchester United take Sancho back?

One thing which has been made clear this season is that Erik ten Hag and Sancho are incompatible.

However, considering how uncertain the future of the Dutchman is now looking, there could be a chance that Sancho would return to find a new manager at the club.

This could end up being one who is desperate to have the silky winger as a starter and therefore Sancho will likely return.

But as of now, there’s just no outcome more likely than yet another loan for the 24-year-old potentially with the option to buy for wherever he goes.

He’s rebuilt his value at Dortmund and it would be smart to let him continue doing that elsewhere given his poor career in red so far.
