Celtic make surprising announcement involving Odsonne Edouard

Celtic are in the middle of preparations for a huge week in store that could Brendan Rodgers’ men on the brink of being crowned Scottish Premiership champions.

Rangers travel to Parkhead on Saturday, and a victory for the hosts could put the title’s destination beyond doubt with fixtures against Kilmarnock and St Mirren to come.

In the scenario of a draw, Celtic would remain in the driving seat by retaining parity; meanwhile, the permutations of an away win don’t need a lengthy explanation.

One other detail of the weekend that fans may have seen on the reigning Scottish Premiership champions’ social media channels is the Celtic FC Player of the Year award ceremony, taking place at the OVO Hydro on Sunday evening.

Limited tickets to the event via Ticketmaster are still available, and plenty of excitement is building ahead of what promises to be a special occasion.

Joe Hart, Alistair Johnston, Greg Taylor, Kyogo Furuhashi, Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda, Callum McGregor and Liam Scales are all up for the main prize from the men’s team.

There are also categories for the Women’s Player of the Year, Goal of the Season categories for both alongside Young Player of the Year and Legendary Goal of the Season.

Celtic make POTY announcement involving Odsonne Edouard

Earlier today, Celtic announced that three more high-profile names have joined the award-presenting team at the Player of the Year awards, with Neil Lennon and Georgios Samaras set to be present at the OVO Hydro.

To the surprise of some, Odsonne Edouard will also link up with the star-studded panel three years after leaving Parkhead to join Crystal Palace back in 2021.

Purely due to recency, the 26-year-old comes in as a headliner ahead of the ceremony. Edouard claimed 11 trophies at Celtic, registering 87 goals and 38 assists in 179 appearances over five years in Glasgow [Transfermarkt].

On what promises to be a huge weekend, hopefully, fans attending can enjoy the occasion with Glasgow Derby bragging rights secured.
