Lopetegui and Sullivan could be a match made in hell after the Telegraph make 'friction' claim

Soon-to-be new West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui and David Sullivan could very well be on course for a frosty relationship

David Sullivan is allegedly set to name Julen Lopetegui as the new West Ham manager, after being won over by the Spaniard’s pitch during talks.

The former Wolves boss is set to be handed the reins at the London Stadium, with David Moyes heading for the exit door.

The 2023/24 season has petered out into a damp squib for us in the end, and that’s so disappointing after where we were placed in December.

However, I’m hoping that the new Lopetegui era will be a really successful one.

The Spaniard, who has grand transfers plans to sign at least six players this summer, is growing on me by the day, the more I read up on him.

It was claimed that the 57-year-old won’t officially be named as the new Hammers boss until July 1st, so we may have to wait a while to see what he’s all about.

Lopetegui’s management style should be like night and day from Moyes’s, and many West Ham fans are beginning to get on board with the idea of him taking over from the Scot.

However, there could well be a potential problem lying in wait for the Spanish coach…

Julen Lopetegui and David Sullivan a match made in hell

The 57-year-old has held down some huge jobs in the past, including the Real Madrid and Spain national team lead roles.

In order to do that, you have to be a strong character with a big personality.

That is clearly something that the Spaniard has in abundance…

The Telegraph journalist John Percy has opened up on how Lopetegui has butted heads with senior officials at the clubs he has worked at throughout his career:

“Lopetegui does have a reputation for friction with senior officials at past clubs, but there is also a view that the best managers can be difficult to work with.”

Wow, Julen Lopetegui and David Sullivan really could be on a collision course couldn’t they!

The Hammers co-owner is well-renowned for being difficult to work alongside, and if Lopetegui lives up to his awkward reputation, there could be trouble ahead at West Ham.
