Report: Chelsea's recruitment team love 'phenomenal' Premier League star, he's under consideration

Chelsea’s recruitment team seem to be very impressed with one Premier League player.

They could be very busy this summer, with the club needing to strengthen after a disappointing season.

Things have picked up for Chelsea recently. Mauricio Pochettino‘s men now sit in seventh and could qualify for European football next term.

However, they have missed out on Champions League qualification and that was their ultimate objective coming into the campaign.

The arrival of a new striker could help them get the job done next time, and the club are being linked with quite a few.

Chelsea are considering signing Premier League centre-forward

The No.9 who Chelsea have been heavily linked with recently is Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

However, there has also been a lot of talk about interest in Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Evan Ferguson this season.

According to 90min, several members of Chelsea’s recruitment team are fans of Ferguson and the 19-year-old is under consideration at Stamford Bridge.

Ferguson has only scored six Premier League goals in the current campaign, but teammate James Milner has still described his finishing as “phenomenal”.

Evan Ferguson would not be an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson

Based on what he has shown over the last couple of seasons, Ferguson looks like he could develop into a top Premier League centre-forward.

Right now, though, he would probably not be an upgrade on Chelsea’s current first-choice striker Nicolas Jackson.

Jackson has scored 13 goals in 32 Premier League appearances this term. Across all competitions, the Senegal international has netted 16 times.

Like Ferguson, he is not the finished article either and has missed a lot of opportunities.

However, Jackson has still done quite well given that this is his first season in England and Chelsea should only spend big on another centre-forward who would be an upgrade on him. It is the only way for them to improve and close the gap with Arsenal and Manchester City.
