Moyes handed new gig for when he leaves West Ham, and it might just surprise you

Soon-to-be ex West Ham United manager David Moyes has an interesting gig lined up for after he leaves the London Stadium.

When David Moyes leaves West Ham, it’s almost certain that he will be replaced by Julen Lopetegui, with the Spaniard set to sign a two-year deal with the Hammers.

Moyes has worked wonders since taking over at West Ham in December 2019, guiding us to three successive European campaigns.

However, it’s clear to see that he’s reached his ceiling in charge of the Hammers now, and we need to move in a different direction.

Hopefully Lopetegui is the man to take us on to the next level. The Spaniard certainly has the credentials to do so.

And if the 57-year-old is adequately backed in the transfer market, I don’t see any reason why he won’t be able to oversee some real progress at the London Stadium.

But what’s in store next for Moyes?

The Scot is football crazy, and has admitted that himself on numerous occasions in the past.

I have no doubts that his short-term future will lie in football management.

Moyes has always been a football man, and a Premier League club inside the bottom six will undoubtedly try to appoint him at some point over the next 12 months.

But it seems as though he will have something else on his plate when he leaves the London Stadium after the final game of the season…

talkSPORT have confirmed that Moyes will be providing tactical insights for the radio show throughout the EURO 2024 tournament out in Germany.

That may well make a few Hammers fans chuckle.

Moyes was hardly known for his tactical brilliance, certainly over the past 18 months or so.

His archaic methods have been the main reason for our painful regression in the Premier League, and it goes without saying that we should have finished inside the top seven this season, given the talent the Scot has at his disposal.

However, when Moyes leaves West Ham, he should be given a warm sending off by the fans. And next up on the agenda for him is a summer internship with talkSPORT it seems.

Whether he’ll return to football management after the Euros remains to be seen.
