Russia has upgraded its Kh-101 cruise missiles by adding another warhead. Ukrainian military officials insist that this won't affect their ability to neutralize them when they target Ukrainian territory, according to Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Illia Yevlash.

"As for interception, it doesn't differ in any way, as it is most likely about adding another warhead at the expense of reducing the fuel compartment," the spokesman said.

Yevlash added that Russians don't need to increase the range of Kh-101 missiles because they are used at much shorter distances for strikes against Ukraine.

"They are now increasing the warhead with elements that can cause more damage to unprotected targets. It could be live force. When they attack cities, we understand what it's aimed at - a large number of casualties, destruction of peaceful Ukrainians. This will cause greater harm due to small metal elements," he explained.

What is known about the modernization of the Kh-101

Previously, the media reported that Russia modified Kh-101 missiles, which are launched from Tu-95 strategic bombers. Analysts said that the occupiers doubled the warhead.

British intelligence confirmed that Russian Kh-101s have added another warhead, but at the same time, this reduced their range.

According to Defense Express, on Wednesday, May 8, during the shelling of Ukraine, the Russians used the modernized Kh-101, manufactured in the second quarter of 2024.
