Todd Boehly can do one thing this summer to prove he is fully behind Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea - opinion

It feels as if things are finally turning around for Mauricio Pochettino in his time as Chelsea manager.

There has been pressure on his shoulders pretty much ever since he came in the door at Stamford Bridge as the Blues looked to recover from a dire last season.

For a long period of time, it looked as if they were dealing with mid-table mediocrity again, although their recent form has seen them move into the European places.

It has been claimed that their current achievements are still not completely enough for Todd Boehly and the Chelsea owners to be completely convinced though, with them looking for Europa League football as a minimum.

A number of players have stepped up their games in recent weeks to help the cause, and one of those has certainly been Conor Gallagher.

The England international has been a constant under Pochettino for pretty much the entire season so far, with him taking the armband regularly in the absence of Reece James.

Recently though, his level has been increased significantly off the back of playing alongside Moises Caicedo in the heart of midfield.

Boehly should back Pochettino by keeping Conor Gallagher

Reports have stated that he is still in serious danger of being sold at the end of the season, which to many seems crazy based on his importance.

The reason is clearly down to a desire to balance the books at Stamford Bridge, although doing so through one of their better performers this season would be a big blow to Pochettino.

Boehly can show a real statement of backing the manager by looking to keep hold of the England international this summer, and instead raising the funds from players who are not making the impact he is.

Clarity between those at the top and the man in the hotseat has not been a constant since the takeover two years ago, but this could be one huge step in putting some of those wrongs very right.
