Journalist shares what one source told him why Erling Haaland isn't any getting Player of the Season votes

Daily Mail journalist Jack Gaughan has been informed by a source by Erling Haaland has not received any votes for the FWA Footballer Of the Year award.

Phil Foden and Rodri were two of the six players who were nominated but Erling Haaland was not.

For the Premier League Player of the Season award, City’s number nine did naturally get nominated however, as he is the division’s top goalscorer with 25 goals.

The other nominees included Phil Foden, Virgil van Dijk, Declan Rice, Ollie Watkins, Cole Palmer, Alexander Isak and Martin Odegaard.

The 23-year-old is having yet another tremendous campaign and is perhaps suffering the same fate as Mohamed Salah did in his second season at Liverpool.

In his debut season at Anfield, Salah broke the Premier League goalscoring record by bagging 32 goals in what was a truly historic campaign from him.

Notably, the Egyptian winger also registered 10 assists in the league in that season.

But in the following term, Mohamed Salah still scored 22 goals.

However, after setting the standards he did in his first season, it seemed like the former Roma winger was not hailed as much.

Despite Salah widely not expected to create history when he first joined Liverpool.

Now, journalist Jack Gaughan has claimed in a report by the Daily Mail that he has been told by an unnamed source why Erling Haaland did not get even one vote for the FWA Footballer Of the Year award.

The source in question stated that Roy Keane’s criticism of Haaland being quite a limited player outside of his goalscoring has subconsciously crept into several of the masses’ minds when discussing him.

In addition, the Manchester City striker is expected to score goals galore to justify his place among the nominees for such individual awards.

Unless Erling Haaland puts in displays like his remarkable showing in Manchester City’s 4-1 win against Arsenal last season.

Haaland missed a few chances in a game where he could have scored more than one goal but that was not the headline at the time.

The former Borussia Dortmund’s all-round display on the day seemed to have caught the eye of many, as per the source.

The Premier League will appreciate Haaland years after he leaves

For Erling Haaland to truly be appreciated wholly by those who tune into the Premier League, it will take years after his spell after Manchester City comes to an end.

For instance, when Haaland’s time ends at City in whichever possible way, the world will realise the damage he did.

The player himself would be willing to elevate his game on an all-round basis but the number of goals he has scored so far and will continue to do is unprecedented.

However, Haaland’s goalscoring exploits have become normalised and as a result, some of the masses might be numb to his brilliance.
