Dyche starts £33m star, 30-year-old makes final Goodison appearance: Predicted Everton XI vs Sheff United

Everton are back in Premier League action again this Saturday for the final time at Goodison Park all season.

This has been a weird campaign for the Toffees at home, who over the years have actually boasted a preference for playing on Merseyside.

However, starting the year off with a host of poor results meant they were constantly under pressure, and a truly abysmal winless run mid-way through the season did not help.

Fortunately, things did pick up late last month, and three wins at Goodison Park in the space of just six days solved that issue and saved them from the drop.

Now, the Blades will come with even less to play for than Sean Dyche’s men, making it a match where we could see some real experimentation.

Predicted Everton XI for Premier League game vs Sheffield United

The 52-year-old is expected to make just three changes from the side that drew at Luton Town last time out.

Jordan Pickford will remain in goal, however the backline ahead of him could see a slight alteration in order to facilitate a returning favourite.

After all, despite Ben Godfrey’s fine showing at full-back during that stunning aforementioned week, Seamus Coleman’s return to fitness should see him start. He is reportedly in discussions over a new one-year deal.

He will mark the only change in the defence though, with Ashley Young, James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite all retaining their spots.

Midfield is another area that could spark a slight reshuffle, one for practical reasons, and another for sentimental.

After all, it is largely expected that this will be Andre Gomes’ final match at Goodison Park, with his £112k-a-week contract due to expire this summer.

No longer can they continue to front such a huge fee for the 30-year-old, who is far from the player they first bought.

He could replace Abdoulaye Doucoure in the number ten role, and will be protected by James Garner and Amadou Onana.

The latter, who joined the Toffees in 2022 for £33m, is expected to earn a recall after Idrissa Gana Gueye has been sensational but used tirelessly in recent weeks.

They will screen an unchanged front three, with Jack Harrison another who might never play at Goodison Park in a royal blue shirt again as his loan expires soon.

Dwight McNeil will certainly stick around though and start on Saturday, despite alternative reports linking him with a move away, whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin also retains his spot.
