'Maybe': Chris Sutton suggests just one Manchester United player who may get in current Arsenal team

Chris Sutton has named the one Manchester United player who would maybe get into the current Arsenal team ahead of their crucial meeting at Old Trafford this weekend.

Arsenal go into their penultimate game of the season top of the Premier League table, with the title race finely poised with Manchester City boasting a game in hand over Mikel Arteta’s side.

For many, City will have to win all three games to clinch their fourth title in a row – which tells you a lot about how far Manchester United have fallen this season, with the 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Monday night proving to be a new low for the club.

United were without Bruno Fernandes for the game at Selhurst Park, and it is fair to say that his stock grew considerably as United crumbled in his absence. So it is not entirely surprising that Chris Sutton has suggested that the Portuguese may be the only Manchester United player who could get into the current Arsenal team.

Certainly, the amount of positives for United this season can probably be counted on one hand. And with that, Chris Sutton has told It’s All Kicking Off that Bruno may be the only one in contention to make the Arsenal side.

“Yeah, in fairness to Bruno, and I’ve criticised him this season about the captaincy, it was so evident the other night at Crystal Palace that they lacked a leader, and maybe I’ve been harsh on Bruno. But he was a big miss the other night, but maybe Bruno,” he said when asked about the 29-year-old.

Arsenal fans unlikely to agree

Bruno has not been perfect by any means, but his tally of 10 goals and seven assists in the Premier League is impressive given what a mess United have been in for much of this season.

By contrast, Martin Odegaard has been directly involved in 16 league goals. Of course, Odegaard has been one of the players of the season, so perhaps what Bruno has done deserves a little more credit.

Who Bruno gets in the Arsenal team ahead of is definitely debatable, as you would imagine that no Arsenal fan would drop Odegaard.

Perhaps he could play as more of a number eight alongside Declan Rice, but it is hard to see too many Arsenal supporters agreeing with Sutton’s view that he may get in.
