In the Moscow region (Russian Federation), air defense forces and assets were reportedly activated on the night of May 10 in response to a drone flying towards the capital of the Russian Federation, according to Telegram Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin.

According to him, air defense allegedly destroyed a UAV in Podolsk.

"By the efforts of the air defense forces of the Ministry of Defense in the Podolsk urban district, an attack of a drone flying towards Moscow was repelled," Sobyanin said in a statement.

The Moscow mayor also said that preliminary information indicates there are no destruction or casualties at the site of the wreckage. Law enforcement and emergency services are currently working at the scene.

"At the site of the wreckage, according to preliminary information, there are no destruction or casualties. Emergency services are working at the scene," he wrote.

Drone attacks on Moscow and the region

Like in other regions of the Russian Federation, the Moscow region also occasionally reports drone attacks. For example, about a year ago, Moscow and the surrounding region reported drone raids, some of which crashed into residential buildings. Russian media also reported that in an attack on May 30, 2023, 32 drones were involved, allegedly 19 of which were shot down. However, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported only eight drones.

It should be noted that Russian media reported that representatives of the press received some guidance from the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation regarding coverage of drone attacks on Moscow and the Moscow region.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force assured that drone attacks on Moscow are internal problems of the Russian Federation.

It was also reported earlier that in January of this year, the Moscow region experienced explosions due to a drone attack.
