'I saw some giggles': Trump lawyer Alina Habba comments on jury in Fox News interview

Fox News/screen grab

Former President Donald Trump's attorney Alina Habba complained on Fox News Thursday evening that the jury appeared to be "giggling" at the former president's Manhattan hush money trial.

"Does the judge seem like he's in control of the courtroom?" asked anchor Jesse Watters.

"He is definitely commanding," said Habba, a controversial lawyer who once said she'd "rather be pretty" than smart and has gotten into confusing antics when she's been serving on Trump's defense at trial. "You can tell that he is outspoken, you can tell he has an opinion. In front of a jury, do I think it's appropriate? No. You have a jury. You have to be very careful of how much you interrupt, how much you condemn one side over the other."

"But I've seen this myself," she added. "They don't care, they care about swaying them, and that's one way to sway a jury. Just because you have a jury doesn't mean that the judge doesn't show control and push them in the right direction."

"And the jury is engaged, they're paying attention to the facts?" Watters pressed her.

"Sometimes," she said. "I think with the last testimony, I saw some giggles, obviously, and I don't want to speak too much about a jury sitting on a trial, but, you know, maybe? Maybe? I don't know, you know, it fades in back and forth, and it's very difficult to read a jury."

This week saw a dramatic two days of testimony from adult film star Stormy Daniels, who delved into salacious testimony about the affair she allegedly had with the former president — a point that led to Trump audibly cursing in the courtroom, and Merchan ordering attorney Todd Blanche to get his client back under control.
