Aston Villa fans grew enraged with one star’s performance after crashing out of the Europa Conference Leauge

One Aston Villa star enraged fans after his performance in their Europa Conference League semi-final defeat to Olympiacos.

The travelling Villains were forced to see their side crash out of the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

Unai Emery’s side were unable to overturn their 4-2 defeat at Villa Park. Ayoub El Kaabi scored a brace in a 2-0 loss in the second leg which saw the Greek side win 6-2 across the tie.

Multiple players in Villa’s first team weren’t able to perform to their best, as the club missed out on another trip to Greece later this month.

However, Matty Cash was picked out as having a particularly bad game. The right-back has not covered himself in glory in recent weeks and his poor form continued in Europe.

Villa’s dreams of ending their major trophy drought this season came to an end as they crashed out in the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League.

Cash, who was the hero in the previous round with his late goal against Lille, became the villain on Thursday night.

The right-back performed poorly which caused many of the Villa fanbase to take to X, formerly Twitter to express their frustration.

After another lacklustre display, some Villa fans have suggested that the club should look to move the right-back on in the summer, especially if they achieve Champions League football.

After crashing out of the Europa Conference League, lessons need to be learned for their next European campaign.

Whether Emery’s side are in the Champions League or the Europa League next season, the club needs more quality and European experience in their side.

While injuries have certainly played a part in their dip in form, some players in their first-team have simply been underperforming as of late.

In Europe, you will be ruthlessly punished for this, and it was shown across the two legs against Olympiacos.

In the summer, the club needs to target more players with experience in European competitions to help the squad through those tough moments.
