Odsonne Edouard sends Celtic message ahead of Glasgow return

Odsonne Edouard is returning to Glasgow this weekend to be part of the Celtic’s Player of the Year celebrations at the Hydro.

The Bhoys made that announcement earlier this week with the Crystal Palace striker set to present one of the awards alongside other former favourites such as Giorgos Samaras and Neil Lennon.

Edouard, known affectionately as ‘French Eddy’ to supporters, was an icon during his spell with the Bhoys. He scored 88 goals in 179 matches before making a big-money move to the English Premier League.

He’s going to get a superb reception from the thousands turning out at the big Hydro event.

Today, on social media site X, he made it clear he was delighted to make the return north, saying: “Honored to be present with these legends.”

Special Celtic awards night in store

Edouard will travel to Wolves on Saturday with his Palace side before making the journey to Scotland for the big show on Sunday night.

Martin O’Neill, Chris Sutton, Ronny Deila and Aiden McGeady will also be on hand to dish out the trophies.

Matt O’Riley is the big favourite to secure the men’s Player of the Year vote with other categories including Goal of the Season, Young Player of the Year and Celtic FC Women’s Player of the Year.

There are also Legendary Player of the Year and Legendary Goal of the Season awards to be announced, chosen from previous winners over the last 20 years.

The Celtic players will be picking their player of the year too, which is always a special moment for the winner.

The awards ceremony will be a much more celebratory affair if the Bhoys manage to pick up victory against Rangers at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon.

Three points in that one and the party will be in full swing at the arena the next night. Bring it on!
