Report: Man City now want £40m to sell ‘superb’ loan star, loads of clubs want to sign him

Manchester City could reportedly look to sell one of their loan stars this summer for £40m.

The Blues have seen numerous players spend the season at other clubs on temporary loan deals such as Joao Cancelo and James McAtee among others.

With the season nearly over, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding another figure currently on the books at the Manchester club who has been having an impressive season elsewhere.

A recent report from talkSPORT had this to say about Yan Couto and what the upcoming summer transfer window could hold for him.

It said: It’s understood Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus and a number of English clubs are keen on a summer move for the right-back.”

The report then went on to add that City could be willing to cash in on the full-back this summer and may look to pick up a fee of £40m for him.

The Brazilian is nearing the end of a two-year loan spell with Girona, who have secured Champions League football for their next campaign.

Couto has had an impressive season at Girona

Throughout the season, Couto has featured in 37 games for the Spanish club prior to tonight’s league game against Alaves, scoring one goal and supplying 10 assists.

Across his 32 La Liga appearances, the 21-year-old has made more carries into the final third of the pitch (85) than any other Girona player as well as racking up the second-highest total of successful tackles (32).

With all of that in mind, it’s easy to see why City would want such a significant transfer fee for the defender if they end up selling Couto, who has been praised by talent scout Jacek Kulig for the “superb” season he’s had.

Moving forward, if the Blues feel like it would be better for them to cash in on Couto rather than have him in Pep Guardiola’s squad or loaned out again, we feel that £40m would be a suitable fee for them to ask for.
