Report: Two Premier League clubs eye surprise move for Leeds attacker who Daniel Farke has used just 10 times

Leeds United are set to wave goodbye to a number of players on a free transfer this summer but one is attracting surprise interest from two current Premier League sides.

Liam Cooper, Sam Byram and Jamie Shackleton are all members of the current side Daniel Farke has at his disposal that will see their current deals end in June, while a few players on loan will also leave on a free.

Robin Koch has already agreed a permanent move to loan side Frankfurt when his Leeds deal comes to an end. Luke Ayling, Cody Drameh, Lew Bate and Ian Poveda are currently out on loan at English clubs.

All four see their deals expire in June with Ayling expected to stay at Boro under Michael Carrick. Lew Bate and Drameh are expected to leave Elland Road and not be offered new deals, the same goes for Poveda.

After playing 10 times under Farke in the first half of the season, two-time Colombia star Poveda has since done well on loan at Yorkshire side Sheffield Wednesday and helped them survive the threat of relegation.

It is expected that Poveda will remain at Wednesday under manager Danny Rohl in the Championship but now, Colombian outlet AS say there is interest in the winger most notably from two Premier League sides.

Here is what the report from Poveda’s nation of Colombia has claimed:

Luton and Burnley eye surprise move for Leeds winger Ian Poveda

Rob Edwards and Vincent Kompany seem as though they are planning for The Championship next season. Luton are three points adrift of safety with two games to play, and Burnley are five behind 17th position.

The chances are that both will be in the Championship next season and are looking for additions to help mount a surge for promotion at the first attempt next season, with Poveda said to be on their shortlist.

Sunderland are also interested in doing a deal for Poveda even if Wednesday boss Rohl has made it clear he would like to sign Poveda beyond his loan spell, on a permanent basis and that seems likely right now.

What is Poveda’s best move this summer as clubs circle

Clearly, Poveda will not be at Leeds next summer even if the club stay in the Championship and fail in the play-offs. The winger needs a change and to find a team where he is going to play regularly next term.

Poveda is happy at Wednesday and the proof of that is his posts on Instagram in which he often teases his opposition. He has produced some glimpses of magic in a side that should do a lot better next term.

A move to Luton or Burnley even in the championship would be no different than the one he has faced at Leeds, in which he is more of a squad player and right now that does not help Poveda’s need for minutes.

Sunderland could be a good move given their faith in younger players and the likelihood that Jack Clarke leaves the Black Cats. But he is happy at Wednesday and he would be right to agree a permanent stay.
