Russia attacks Kharkiv region to create buffer zone

Russian aggressors have intensified their attacks on the northeastern direction of the Kharkiv region, particularly in Vovchansk, in an effort to establish a buffer zone, citing Reuters.

"Russian forces have launched a ground attack in the northeastern part of the Kharkiv region, advancing one kilometer near the border town of Vovchansk with the aim of creating a buffer zone," Reuters notes, referring to a high-ranking Ukrainian military source.

According to the source, Russian troops seek to push Ukrainian Armed Forces back 10 kilometers from the Russian border, while Ukrainian defenders attempt to hold their ground.

Today, May 10, it became known that Russian troops, under the cover of armored vehicles, attempted to breach the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region. The Ministry of Defense reported that the enemy's attack was repelled, and fighting continues.

Russian Federation actively attacks Kharkiv region

Today, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said that the Russian army shelled the region throughout the night in the northern direction.

Meanwhile, Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, said that Russians have resources to escalate actions in the border areas of the Kharkiv region. However, there is no talk of an advance on Kharkiv.

Ukrainian military previously forecasted the likelihood of Russian advance on the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
