Two young riders took part in the Annual Isle of Man youth/junior two-day stage race.
The event attracts more than 265 entrants covering 11 age catogories (8-17 years).
Charlie Hoyle, racing for the Shibden Apex race team, finished 23rd overall with placings of 24th on stage one and 14th on stage two in the junior boys’ category.
Southwell’s Stanley Russell, racing for Newark Castle Cycling Club, finished 26th overall with placings of 30th on stage one and 24th on stage two in the under-14 boys’ category race. It was Stanley’s first trip to a race series of this calibre.
Isabel Darvill, racing for the UCI Continental Team, Doltcini-O’Shea, decided at short notice to ride the Witham Hall Women’s Grand Prix as part of the Timmy James Races at Witham on the Hill, near Bourne, in preparation for this coming weekend’s Lincoln Grand Prix.
In a race that mainly stuck together with the occassional short-lived breakaways, the race came together for the finish with a mass bunch uphill sprint with Isabel finishing in ninth place behind Lucy Glover of the Shibden Apex Race Team.
Jack Levick was second in the Sheffrec ten-mile time trial in 20 minutes 15 seconds, averaging 29.63 mph.
Jack rode the E/1/2/3 men’s race in the opening round of the Cliff Pratt Deca Community Crits 2024 on Thursday evening in Hull.
Oliver Saunders, of the promoting club, stormed around the eight-mile Flawborough course to win the Newark Castle Cycling Club’s road bike time trial round one in cold and blustery conditions on Thursday night in a time of 19 minutes 36 seconds.
Reece Egner (Witham Wheelers) was second in 20-02 and M. Sil (Amicusis 13) in 20-51-21.
Elaine Simpson (Nottingham Clarion) was the fastest lady in 23 minutes 45 seconds and Stanley Russell (Newark Castle) was fastest juvenile in 24 minutes 26 seconds
Oliver Saunders continued his good form with a really good ride to finish 16th out of 80 finishers in the RTTC National Road Bike Championships near Peterborough in a time of 50 minutes 57 seconds on the 22.4-mile course
