Free concert in Southwell Minster to celebrate launch of 2024 Southwell Music Festival programme, featuring The Sonas Quartet

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of a music festival organisers are hosting a special free concert this weekend.

The concert will take place tomorrow evening (May 11), at 7.30pm, in the Nave of Southwell Minster.

This year’s festival will officially be launched at the concert, with the announcement of the 2024 Southwell Music Festival programme.

Guests can enjoy performances from a selection of artists who will perform at this year's Festival.

This includes the festival’s 2024 string apprentices, The Sonas Quartet, who formed in 2022 at the Guildhall School of Music, as well as performances from soprano Alison Rose and pianist Libby Burgess.

They will play excerpts from Mozart's String Quartet No.14, Spring in G Major and Janacek's Quartet No.1, 'The Kreutzer Sonata'.

After the concert, guests are invited to enjoy refreshments in the Crossing.
