Herts and Essex High School student Darcy Edwards helps Knole Park claim hockey treble

Darcy Edwards played a key role as she helped Knole Park triumph at the women’s national finals to complete a treble just before starting her GCSEs.

The Year 11 Herts and Essex High School student scored in the final as her Sevenoaks-based club side beat Swindon 4-3 in the final at the Lee Valley Olympic Park.

Edwards, 15, has been juggling school, revision and training in a packed schedule so was delighted to see her commitment pay dividends.

And the tournament victory came after the teenager and her Knole Park colleagues had secured both the league title and the indoor national title earlier in the campaign.

Former Bishop’s Stortford Hockey Club player Edwards was on the score sheet alongside hat-trick hero Evie Smith in the final as their team went 4-0 up, only for Swindon to draw level.

But it was Knole Park who landed the trophy thanks to a 4-3 triumph on penalties in an exciting end to the contest.
