A34 closed from East Ilsley to Chieveley for resurfacing works and safety barrier replacement

Part of the A34 through West Berkshire will be closed this weekend.

The road is shut in both directions between East Ilsley and Chieveley from 9pm tonight (Friday) until 6am on Monday (May 13).

The A34 will be shut from Friday night until Monday morning

The closure is to allow National Highways to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway.

A diversion is in place but motorists have been warned that it could add up to 50 minutes onto journeys.

National Highways said it would also be carrying out safety barrier renewals, white lining and litter picking while the road was shut.

“This will maintain safety and improve the journey for road users,” it added.

It is the second weekend in recent weeks where the road has been shut.

It will also close from 9pm on Friday, June 7 until 6am on Monday, June 10.

The signed diversion is via the A34, A40, M40, A404/A404M and then join the A34.

There is also a possibility the road will need to close again for a weekend in early July if there’s any delays.
