Poppy Playtime is the next video game series to get the movie adaptation treatment.
After the success of the the Five Nights at Freddy’s film, Hollywood is looking to make some quick cash off another horror game with a massive following: Poppy Playtime. Here’s what we know so far about the confirmed release of the spooky movie adaptation.
Legendary making Poppy Playtime film
Legendary beat out several other offers with an aggressive deal with Mob Entertainment. Legendary will develop and produce the film alongside Mob Entertainment and Angry Films’ Don Murphy and Susan Montford. The duo recently filmed Faces of Death, another Legendary horror movie.
Poppy Playtime will be a live action film, meaning it will feature real actors and likely CGI elements for some of the toys and villains.
Poppy Playtime movie plot
Poppy Playtime is a horror game focused on survival with a dark backstory. The game centers around an abandoned toy facility known as Playtime Co. where a lot of experimenting and murder took place. This includes the notorious Hour of Joy.
There are many iconic characters that all feature a little bit of a creepy element, whether it’s a sharp-toothed dinosaur, empty eyed plushies, or a murderous ragdoll teacher.
The plot and characters for the film adaptation have not been officially revealed this early on, however. We don’t know who will star in the film just yet or what will happen in this dark tale.
Poppy Playtime movie release date
There is no official release date for the Poppy Playtime movie just yet.
The film was just announced yesterday so it’s most likely in very early stages of production. Most of the people involved behind the scenes or on screen have not been shared at this point.
