Eurovision has become politicised nonsense, says Nana Akua

I’m sorry, but I have to say watching Olly Alexander with five half naked blokes simulating sex acts in a grotty neon lit toilet, the song is called dizzy it should’ve been called grotty.

Crotch grabbing, lick lipping, Olly at one point caresses one of the dancers hanging upside down.

THIS is the United Kingdom’s entry for Eurovision 2024.. What the hell is going on?

Gone are the days where Eurovision was about the actual song when Brotherhood of man, save all your kisses for me, a tune, Cliff Richard and Lulu performed. Remember the late Terry Wogan’s and his legendary commentary. That’s gone.

Replaced by a virtue signalling political wokefest.. with people who hate this great country denigrating it whilst at the same time supposedly representing it.

Last year we had Mae Muller who came second from last with 24 points, that’s 24 more than Germany, at least. They came last.. She was found to have tweeted.. “I hate this country’ and of the PM Boris Johnson during the pandemic when he was critically ill with covid tweeted, she didn’t feel sorry for him’. Why say anything at all?

It’s no more divisive that the letters LGBTQIIA++ which divides everybody by a letter and whose agenda this performance appears to represent…

At least unlike Greta Thunberg Olly didn’t then conflate the contest with Israel and refuse to perform, although lets be honest the contest reaches a global audience of 162 million people which is probably the real reason why they’re all getting involved..

This week at Thursday’s second Eurovision semi-final in Sweden’s third largest city, Malmo Israeli singer Eden Golan was one of the 10 entries to progress. But earlier that day there was a demonstration in the city centre with thousands protesting against the decision to include Israel while its military campaign in Gaza continues.

Further protests, and an alternative concert billed by organisers as a “a song contest without genocide”, are planned for Saturday.

Greta Thunberg gave her two pennies worth and activists were gathered outside the hotel where Eden Golan was staying. All she wants to do is sing her song. But this is what she had to deal with at a press conference yesterday.

It’s so intimidatory. But because these people appear to believe they hold the moral high ground it’s fine to effectively besiege a young woman in her hotel room by gathering and chanting outside it.

In 2022, we finally produced a decent song, Sam Ryder with Spaceman but we didn’t win because of the war in Ukraine..

Before that it was punishment for Brexit which is perhaps why we subconsciously put forward such atrocious songs..

None of this has anything to do with music. Eurovision has become politicised nonsense it’s no longer about the song, or am I missing something here?
