Prince William took his first overnight trip since late February to royal engagements in the Southwest of England supporting his homeless charity Homewards. many royal analysts are claiming this is "a good sign" that Kate, Princess of Wales, is likely "on the mend" as she continues to receive preventative chemotherapy treatments for an undisclosed cancer.
"Homewards, the charity for homeless people, is very much at the heart of what William wishes to drive forward and, in reality, is only a short flight away if Kate had any sudden issues," royal expert Ian Pelham told an outlet. "As the Prince of Wales, he also inherits the Duchy of Cornwall, where he is staying overnight in the county."
Like his father, King Charles III's signature charitable project while heir, the Prince's Trust, William is dedicated to ensuring Homewards becomes just as influential.
"I know through contacts close to William working with him on the project that he works tirelessly every day to make the rough sleepers project work," Pelham added. "There are several sites around the country which he hopes will be developed to offer rough sleepers support. Obviously, William feels that Kate is on the mend now, and he has been very relaxed leaving London and seen in Cornwall."
In a rare 2023 interview, His Royal Highness spoke about the time his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, took him to a homeless shelter when he was 11 years old, which is something he plans to replicate with his own children. The Prince of Wales stated, "I think when I can balance it with their schooling, they will definitely be exposed to it. On the school run, we talk about what we see."
Allowing Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to experience what life is like for ordinary people when they are at their lowest points will bring all walks of life into close proximity to their royal family.
This is all part of what the reign of the current king and the future King William V's own kingship will strive to achieve in anticipation of Prince George's own reign decades into the future.
As Prince of Wales thus far, the father-of-three launched "Homewards," which seeks to end homelessness across the U.K. over the next five years. He is also spearheading his "Earthshot Prize" initiative to promote environmental sustainability, which always comes with a gala event each autumn, with Cape Town, South Africa, selected to host this year's ceremony in November.
The land for the homes will be supplied by the estate of the Duchy of Cornwall, which is under the sole authority of William as the heir apparent to the throne. Development is slated to commence in September of this year, with the first homes projected to be finished by the fall of 2025.
