The Russian GRU (Main Intelligence Directorate) planned to carry out terrorist attacks in Kyiv on May 9. The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) prevented these provocations, according to SSU spokesperson Artem Dehtiarenko.
According to the spokesperson, the planning of the terrorist attacks was directed by Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate, commonly known as the GRU.
"The SSU acted preemptively, and the perpetrators of the terrorist acts were apprehended in the act. Moreover, substantial evidence that unquestionably confirms the Russian trace has been collected," Dehtiarenko noted.
The SSU promises to provide details of the special operation later.
Other Russian provocations
The Russian regime has repeatedly attempted provocations in Ukraine, not limited to Kyiv.
Additionally, Kremlin officials sought to link Ukraine to a terrorist attack that occurred in a shopping center in the Moscow region on March 22, 2024. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed to have discovered a Ukrainian trace in the investigation. Moscow accused the head of the SSU, Vasyl Maliuk, of involvement in the terrorist act and demanded his arrest.
The SSU sharply responded to Russia's accusations and dismissed the Russian Foreign Ministry's statements as "baseless."
According to partisan reports, Russian special services may have been planning provocations and terrorist acts on Russian territory to blame Ukraine subsequently.
