Report: £17m forward Pedro Porro called 'extraordinary' now wants to join Tottenham this summer

A player Pedro Porro once called “extraordinary” now wants to join Tottenham this summer.

Spurs are in need of reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window as the 2023/24 campaign fizzles out to an underwhelming end under Ange Postecoglou, with four consecutive Premier League defeats heading into Saturday’s clash against Burnley.

There are doubts over the future of Richarlison – who the Telegraph believe Tottenham could sell – and a familiar face may now return to replacement the Brazilian…

Marcus Edwards wants Tottenham return

The name Marcus Edwards may ring a bell amongst some Spurs fans.

Back in 2006, the 25-year-old joined Tottenham’s academy, earning a reputation as one of the brightest talents in English football.

Mauricio Pochettino even boldly compared Edwards to Lionel Messi of all players.

Now – according to Record – Tottenham are keen to bring the man from Enfield back to N17, and he is interested in returning to Hotspur Way.

The Portuguese news outlet believe Edwards is showing a desire to come home, and wants to play in the Premier League – something he never got the chance to do before leaving for Vitória de Guimarães in 2019.

Record add that Spurs are entitled to 35% of the transfer fee if Sporting CP sell the attacker, so if he does return to Tottenham, it would effectively make the deal cheaper for the north Londoners.

Another Portuguese news outlet in A Bola even believe Sporting CP are willing to sell Edwards for £17m this summer.

Pedro Porro would be happy

If Spurs do end up bringing Edwards back to N17, it would presumably please Porro.

The Spain international made 36 appearances alongside the forward at Sporting CP – combining for two goals – and seemingly enjoyed having the Englishman as a teammate, calling him an “extraordinary” footballer when speaking to the Guardian.

Edwards typically lines up on the right flank as well – making 41 appearances in that position this season – so he could develop a very effective partnership with the Spaniard under Postecoglou.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen this summer.
