How much money each Premier League place is worth as Wolves target more wins

Wolves have suffered a drop in form as of late, but if they record positive results in their final two games, how much extra money can the Old Gold earn?

The Premier League is the most lucrative league on the planet and Wolves are in line for a healthy payday regardless of where they finish this season.

For each league position, you earn more the higher you finish. Given Gary O’Neil is concerned about the club’s budget this summer, every little helps towards their transfer budget.

Wolves are currently in a tough spell of form, winning just one of their last eight league matches, as multiple injury woes have impacted their results.

At one point, O’Neil’s men were challenging for Europe but now, the highest they can finish is ninth depending on whether they take maximum points and other results go their way.

How much is each Premier League position worth to Wolves?

With just two games remaining this season, the best Wolves can hope for is a top-half finish, which would be regarded as an incredible campaign given what they were expected to achieve.

The Wanderers are currently sat in 12th but there is a substantial pay gap between finishing in this position and those pushing the top 10.

As delineated by the above table, Wolves can slip as low as 14th and lose out on some precious prize money, but if they can somehow secure victories over Crystal Palace and Liverpool, a top-half finish is on the cards.

Wolves need to finish as high as possible for the extra funds

O’Neil has already shared his frustrations over the club’s transfer strategy heading into this summer, as he accepts he may have to sell some of his star players to splash the cash.

It’s a similar situation that Julen Lopetegui found himself in before walking out of Molineux, so supporters will hope lightning doesn’t strike twice.

Ultimately, those comments suggest Wolves need all the money they can get to put towards their transfer budget as the difference in prize money is invaluable to the club.

The Wanderers have been plagued by their lack of squad depth this season, so O’Neil will need several reinforcements, otherwise, the club risks going backwards and losing their incredible manager too.
