Jurgen Klopp discusses risk of missing Anfield farewell ahead of Liverpool exit

Jurgen Klopp has admitted he will be on his best behaviour in order to avoid receiving a suspension for his final match as Liverpool manager.

The legendary German will stand down from his post at the end of the season after nine years with the Reds, but is in danger of missing out on his own farewell. Klopp is one yellow card away from receiving a touchline ban heading into Liverpool's final two games of the campaign- they travel to Aston Villa on Monday night before they host Wolves in Klopp's final match at Anfield next Sunday.

At a pre-match conference ahead of their trip to Villa, Klopp insisted he will do all he can to ensure he is in the dugout for his last home game in charge of Liverpool.

"I will try absolutely everything to try not get involved in any kind of discussions," he said. "I know that already for a long time [he was one more card from a ban].

"When did I get the second yellow? By the way we could turn it around and say I 'only' got two yellow cards. Some of my colleagues got suspended, right? Hmm. I got calmer over the years, obviously."

Liverpool have scrapped plans for a parade through the city to honour Klopp having only won the Carabao Cup this season and have instead confirmed a farewell event at the M&S Arena on May 28 under the tagline, 'An Evening with Jurgen Klopp & Special Guests'.

Speaking about this event, Klopp joked: "I had a lot of ‘Evenings with Jurgen Klopp'!

"It's neither my idea, nor am I involved in any organisation. I don't even think I can even organise tickets. It's fine. I've no clue what will happen that night. I said whatever people ask me to do from that perspective, then I will do it.

"If someone wants me wherever, as much as I can make it happen, I will make it happen. It's no problem to come a week after, nine days after. If the people want that, I will be there. No doubt.

"I assume it will probably be good. I hope so. No pressure on the people organising it, but it would be nice if it could be a little bit funny. John Bishop [comedian] is there right? Then there's a good chance it will be funny."

Klopp also said earlier this week: "This is going to be a very special night, with lots of fantastic memories shared and plenty of great music too.

"I'm really looking forward to spending it with our fans, the heartbeat of this wonderful and unique club."
