‘Fantastic’ player Liverpool sold for £12m could now join his fourth club in less than a year

A lot has been made of Liverpool’s business in the transfer market in recent seasons but they might have got one sale just spot on.

The Reds had a bit of a clear out last summer as the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were moved on while new players such asAlexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were signed as replacements.

For Liverpool, it has worked out well. The new-look midfield has played a major role this season and the Reds have just come up short in the title race.

However, while the new signings have worked out well at Anfield, one of those aforementioned sales has had a bit of a stinker and could be in line for a fourth club in less than 12 months.

Jordan Henderson could be sold by Ajax already

Of course, we are talking about Jordan Henderson, who Liverpool got £12m for from Saudi Arabian side El-Ettifaq back in the summer of 2023.

However, Henderson lasted only six months in the Middle East before deciding he wanted out and subsequently joined Ajax in January of this year.

But according to The Athletic, Ajax have financial troubles following their failure to qualify for the Champions League and they could now be forced to sell.

Among the key players being considered for sale are Henderson, and former Tottenham winger, Steven Bergwijn.

The former Premier League duo are two of the Dutch club’s highest earners and will need to be moved off the books if things cannot improve.

Henderson, then, could well be sold on and have his fourth club in the space of just a year.

Lauded by Steven Gerrard as being a ‘fantastic’ player and leader during his time in Saudi, Henderson’s career has taken quite the nosedive recently.

Whether or not he is included as part of England’s squad in the summer, remains to be seen.

But his time at Ajax could well be coming to an end and a move back to England might well be something that ends up on the cards again.
